What Is the NMT?

The NMT (Національний мультипредметний тест / National Multi-Subject Test) is Ukraine's standardized university entrance examination that replaced the previous ZNO (External Independent Testing) system. Introduced in 2022 during wartime conditions, the NMT was designed to simplify the examination process while maintaining fair and objective assessment standards. The NMT tests students in three subjects within a single testing session: Ukrainian Language, Mathematics, and one subject of the student's choice (History of Ukraine or a foreign language). All questions are multiple choice, and the exam is completed in one sitting, making it more accessible for students across different regions of Ukraine. NMT scores are the primary criterion for admission to Ukrainian universities and are used in the competitive selection process.

NMT 2026 Schedule and Format

The NMT 2026 is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026. The main testing period runs through late June, with students selecting their preferred test date during registration. The entire exam is completed in a single session lasting approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. Students answer questions in three blocks: Ukrainian Language (approximately 30 questions), Mathematics (approximately 28 questions), and the chosen third subject (approximately 20 questions). All questions use a multiple-choice or matching format, with no open-ended responses required. Scores are calculated on a scale from 100 to 200 points for each subject block. The NMT can be taken at test centers across Ukraine or abroad at designated international locations for Ukrainian citizens living outside the country. Our countdown timer helps you track the time remaining until your chosen exam date.

NMT Preparation Tips

Preparing for the NMT requires a balanced approach across all three exam subjects. For Ukrainian Language, review grammar rules, spelling, punctuation, and practice reading comprehension tasks. Build your vocabulary and familiarize yourself with common question types from previous NMT and ZNO exams. For Mathematics, work through all topic areas systematically — algebra, geometry, functions, probability, and statistics. Focus on understanding core concepts rather than memorizing formulas alone, as the NMT emphasizes applied problem-solving. For the third subject (History of Ukraine or a foreign language), dedicate consistent study time to build comprehensive knowledge. Use the official practice tests published by the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (UCEQA) to familiarize yourself with the format. Since all three subjects are tested in one sitting, practice completing full mock exams to build mental endurance and time management skills.
